New Summer Necklaces
Here are some new pieces of jewelry that I created this summer. Have been kept busy with sales at Oceanport Gardens, the ladies really like the conservative styles.
Another Great Artist on Etsy
While searching Etsy for artists I found this great animal/bird artist Cathy McGovern from St. Louis. I'm amazed at her ability to reproduce those fine details of each animal or bird with such accuracy. Been Busy Making More Petal Necklaces
I've been busy making more petal necklaces of polymer clay. People seem to love this style. I realized last week that if I'm going to have another sale at the Oceanport Senior Residence this spring I'd have to get busy and make more jewelry.
My first project this week is this gold petal necklace which reflects light much like a gold metal necklace depending on how the light hits the petals. Of course, polymer clay is so light it isn't as heavy as a metal necklace.
Sold
Then I got to work on this colorful Hawaiian Lei style petal necklace in several gorgeous colors. This one would be particularly nice for a Cinco de Mayo celebration.
Sold
Both these necklaces are currently for sale at my shop; Polymer Panache. Click here:

Two Color Pinch Petal Necklace in Polymer Clay
Just finished creating another pinch petal style necklace in Red and White. This one is a little different as one side of the necklace has red petals rimmed with white and the other side white petals rimmed with red.
I love the way the red and white look together, so crisp and bright. It will be a great necklace for the summer months.
I sometimes think that the customers looking at a handcrafted necklace have no idea about how it's made or the many steps that go into creating it. I put together a photo showing some of the steps that went into this necklace and listed it along with the above photo in my Etsy shop -- Polymer Panache.
The photos below show a white log made of polymer clay covered with a sheet of red clay. It is then sliced into dozens of "petals". Then the round slice is "pinched" at one end to get the petal shape. The pinched end is then perforated with a sharp needle. All the petals are placed in the oven to cure. The last photos shows all the petals ready for stringing.
I hope this will give the customer a better idea of
the work that goes into a handcrafted product.

Crocheting Hats
Last week I got the bug to start crocheting again. I wanted to create a hat I had made many years ago. While searching the internet for the pattern I couldn't find the one I was looking for but did find an old pattern that I liked and crochet it in 2 evenings.
What struck me while I was googling vintage patterns was that there are so many being sold on-line. I had no idea how popular they had become. I immediately got out some old patterns that I had stuck in a file folder in the 1970's (I know -- I should throw out some of my junk) and started retyping the directions and scanning the pictures. I've just listed three of them on my Etsy shop: fraidycatcreations.etsy.com
Here are the photos of the patterns that are now available at: http://www.etsy.com/shop/fraidycatcreations. I will be adding more in a few days.

Funky Hearts for Valentine's Day
Here are a few more less traditional heart pendants of Polymer Clay.
The heart pendants below were influenced by the beautiful work of Christi Friesen, polymer clay artist of California.
All the above hearts are available at my Etsy Shop - Fraidy Cat Creations.

Valentine's Day Hearts
Have been working on some polymer clay hearts for Valentine's Day. The small heart pins/brooches with tiny floral appliques were a challenge to make as all the flowers are so tiny. Some have Swarovski Crystals.
These can all be found at my Etsy shop, Fraidy Cat Creations.

Successful Sale at Oceanport Gardens
Well the jewelry sale at Oceanport Gardens Senior Residence on Nov. 10th went very well. It's amazing how much seniors love jewelry.
After the sale I collapsed on the couch and did nothing for 24 hours. It's a lot of work packing all the jewelry up and setting it all out on the 2 long tables I used. Then packing everything up NOT in the right order. Then sorting all the necklaces, bracelets, etc. into the right bags. Then removing the items I had sold from the Etsy shops. But it was worth it to see the gleam in the eyes of the ladies who each had a new piece of jewelry to add to their lore.
Many brought their daughters or daughters-in-law who did their Christmas shopping.
