Crocheting Hats

Last week I got the bug to start crocheting again.  I wanted to create a hat I had made many years ago.  While searching the internet for the pattern I couldn't find the one I was looking for but did find an old pattern that I liked and crochet it in 2 evenings.

What struck me while I was googling vintage patterns was that there are so many being sold on-line.  I had no idea how popular they had become.  I immediately got out some old patterns that I had stuck in a file folder in the 1970's (I know -- I should throw out some of my junk) and started retyping the directions and scanning the pictures.  I've just listed three of them on my Etsy shop: fraidycatcreations.etsy.com

Valentine's Day Hearts

Have been working on some polymer clay hearts for Valentine's Day.  The small heart pins/brooches with tiny floral appliques were a challenge to make as all the flowers are so tiny.  Some have Swarovski Crystals.

Successful Sale at Oceanport Gardens

Well the jewelry sale at Oceanport Gardens Senior Residence on Nov. 10th went very well.  It's amazing how much seniors love jewelry.

After the sale I collapsed on the couch and did nothing for 24 hours.  It's a lot of work packing all the jewelry up and setting it all out on the 2 long tables I used.  Then packing everything up NOT in the right order.  Then sorting all the necklaces, bracelets, etc. into the right bags.  Then removing the items I had sold from the Etsy shops.  But it was worth it to see the gleam in the eyes of the ladies who each had a new piece of jewelry to add to their lore.

Many brought their daughters or daughters-in-law who did their Christmas shopping.

Haven't blogged in a long time

Have been very busy creating the most beautiful necklaces which I refer to as "Glitzy" for the holidays, either for you to wear or give as a gift.  Here are a few photos.

Lots of Earrings

With all the heat this summer on the East Coast I have been hibernating in my studio making scads of earrings all of polymer clay.  They are a very simple design with lots of texture.  While creating them I found that they looked just as good upside down as they did right side up, hence, here are both versions.

Statement Necklaces

Have been busy working on what seems to be called Statement Necklaces by the fashion industry.  Also, sometimes referred to as Bib Necklaces.  Finished two today and made earrings to match.
