Polymer Clay Seahorses

After painting for awhile, I got the itch to go back to working with polymer clay. I don't know about you, but when I'm working on a particular craft or painting, I start to get ideas for something else I want to create. My brain is always running ahead of my hands.

Once again, inspired by Christi Friesen, pc artist of California, I tried sculpting seahorses and made a few pins and pendants. These too are encrusted with Swarovsky Crystals and Pearls, all wired into the clay so they don't come out.

I'd love to hear your comments on any of my creations.

4 White Cat Paintings

This is Jake, the inspiration for my White Cat Paintings.

Esmeralda, the Vixen
(She strolls by night, Looking For Love In All the Wrong Places)
Oil on stretched canvas, 12" x 16"

Pussila, The Pretty Cat, oil on stretched canvas,
14" x 18"

Jake The Happy Cat, acrylic on stretched canvas, 12" x 16"

Dapper Dan, oil on stretched canvas 12" x 16"

In February, 2009 we moved into a larger apartment and I finally have a room all my own to use as a studio. Up until then I worked on my dining room table and had to put everything away when I wanted to start working on a different craft. Now I have a wonderfully huge closet to store all my arts and crafts goodies and a nice craft table, an easel and our computer all in one room. What a difference it makes.

I got out my easel and my oil paints and started painting in a whimsical style. This is my first attempt at whimsy. Here are my four white cat paintings inspired by our white cat "Jake" who passed away last September.

Long Time - No Write

Well, it's been a long time since I had a chance to sit down and post anything on my blog.

Early 2008 I submitted two of my recycled denim "Journal Purses" to "Haute Handbag" magazine published by Stampington. I had just found out that there actually was a magazine devoted to just handbags. I waited for months, hearing nothing from Stampington, until July when I received a phone call stating that my purses were going to be featured in the Fall, 2008 issue. You can imagine how excited I was! I then had to sit down and write the article (no small feat).

In late October I finally got the magazine and saw the beautiful layout they did for my 2 purses. I was really impressed, especially with the photography.

More Journal Bags

I have been having trouble uploading the image of the front of this bag but there isn't much difference between the two.

Have to go finish writing out Christmas cards now. Wish me luck on eBay.

Finally - Purses on eBay

I finally finished several recycled jeans shoulder purses and they are on eBay as I write this. Now if I knew how to insert a link to them that would be nice. While I learn how to do that I'll put some pics up here for you to look at. I would appreciate your comments.

The top photo is the back of this purse and the bottom one is the front.

The bottom photo is the front of the bag and the top photo is the back.

When ever I try to upload photos to my blog they always jump around and go wherever they please. There's got to be a better way!

These purses are what I call Journal Bags. However, if you don't keep a journal you can still use them. They are not large purses, generally about 6 1/2" wide by 8" long, with a 34" shoulder strap. I can get a wallet, keys, lipstick and my cell phone into it. It has an inside pocket for the cell phone and is fully lined. How do you like them?

A Few More Pendants

Here are a few more Japanese style pendants of polymer clay. Haven't had much time lately to work on clay jewelry as I'm trying to get a few more recycled jeans purses finished to put on eBay. My workspace consists of a small, round dinette table on which everything has to be done (except eating). So I can only work on one type of project at a time. Oh, for a studio of my own.

I'm very new to this blogging business and I'm trying to change a few things about my bloggers template. Such as making the left and right borders narrower so the main section can be wider and I could write more text and add more photos without the photos squishing the text. Anyone out there know how to do this??? I could use some help.

Polymer Clay Pendants

I've ransacked my computer drives for some pendants I've made in the past few years and came up with these pics. Will post more later.

My First Blog

This is my first blog! I wonder if anyone will be interested in reading it after I get some pictures up. Maybe! Hopefully!!!!

I'm hoping this blog will help me to show others what I have created and to discuss our shared interests, i.e. oil painting, photography, polymer clay jewelry, crystal jewelry and my latest creations in recycled jeans, --Vintage Ladies denim purses. These are really cute. I'd like to get some feedback from other artists/craft persons.

I'm off to take some photos to share with you.
